Do you remember----

'Do you remember that rosebush by the patio. How Mom would weed around it, nuture it, and each spring when it would start to bloom, she'd cut the flowers, she'd ALWAYS have one sitting on the kitchen counter, in a bud vase, so she could enjoy it while she was puttering around the kitchen?' Ok, neither do I! Forgive an old woman for trying to plant memories in her GROWN childrens heads. Now, about the rosebush. This particular bush was a gift from Dennis several 'Mother's days' ago. For lack of a better place, I planted it by the patio. I then ignored it for a couple of years. It offered to die several times. I'm like, 'go ahead, I can buy another one that looks just like you! No one will be the wiser.' Jump ahead to this year--I was too cheap to buy plant fertilizer--I can up with my own--coffee grounds and food scraps--this rosebush LOVES the stuff. [go figure!] It is totally beautiful this year. And yes, I am cutting the flowers and putting them in a vase. I did INDEED weed around the darn thing. The way I figure, if I live another decade or so, the bush continues to love my fertilizer, and my MADE-UP memory will be a REAL one. One can only hope. By the by, Thanks for the pictures on your blog Rachel, it's nice to know, your family is 'safe and sound, back in 'good ol' Provo!'

I don't see the Mall--Where's the Mall, Boo????

We are home for tonight at least. Boo was having a difficult time with such a big diet change, so we decided to come home a day early. Bryon and I plan to do a day trip tomorrow. Back to the Mall- we went to Ely Nevada on purpose. However, when we got there the trains were only running weekends. It is a rather small town, with little to offer in the way of shopping. We are looking at the map, Eureka is only 83 miles away AND it's printed in much BIGGER letters. We decide that it is probably a MUCH larger town. We head out, with visions of all the cool shopping we are going to do. We don't even mind the 1000 foot climb. I kid you not, if you were to blink, you'd miss Eureka. We are diving along happily when we realize that we just PASSED Eureka. 'I didn't see the mall-Where's the mall Boo??' Yes indeed, that IS what I said. Luckily they did have a 'Best Western' [not a very good one, mind you] so we ended up staying the night. Only two places to eat so we ate cold cereal and veggies in our room. The motel DID have a spa pool that Boo made use of. When we pulled out at 8:45a.m. this morning the sidewalks were still pulled up. Do I reccomend a trip to Eureka? Not hardly!!! We did a lot of driving, Miss Eva was such a lady, and had a lovely visit with Brandon, so 'all in all' it was a pretty good time. Love to all!!!!

Crazy-fun-day off

I've had the craziest day! I had a 10:00a.m. appointment with my insurance agent[cancelled], and 11:00a.m. hair appointment. My hairdresser gave me a wonderful idea for Serenity's birthday gift. I had to run out and get that AND stuff to take to her party, I'm making a berry dessert for Dennis to try, AND I managed a one hour nap. How good am I? While I was at the hairdressers my insurance agent came by with a birthday gift for me. It was waiting on my doorstep. First you must know that this agent carries my LIFE insurance AND he knows about the road trip next week. So what did he give me? You may well ask!!! An ACCIDENT kit. What???? No really, it's a Farmers Insurance ACCIDENT kit. If it weren't so darn cute I might? be offended. It is darling. It has a form to fill out an accident report, a card about what you should do when you are in an accident, a flashlight, whistle, tapemeasure, pen and some emergency food. This is all contained in a cute pouch that fits in the glove box. However---I can't help ut wonder---does my LIFE insurance pay him a 'kick-back' if they have to payout on me???

Alive and whimpering!!!

So----Hi all!! I haven't posted this week cuz I was too busy whimpering and whinning!!! How's that for a wasted week. We are looking forward to the visit from the 'Northern Utahn's' at the end of the week. I can't wait to see the grandkids. They have grown so much. Also, being able to celebrate Serenity's birthday will be fun.
Work has been 'crazy busy' so I am really looking forward to 'hitting the road' next week. We still don't know where we are going, we just know we ARE going! It should be an adventure.[to quote Shel] Picture this: 'two lonely females without a plan between them, taking off to parts unknown with only a SLIGHT idea where any given road will take them. Day 4 will arrive and it will be, 'so how do we get home from HERE!?' If any of you receive a call from ANY of the 48 states [not counting what's not part of the MAINLAND] from me, please, PLEASE pick-up. I'll probably need directions!!! Hugs to all!

The HIGHER Standard WILL prevail-----NOT!!!!!!!!

I MUST ask-why is it, that when two apposing standards colide--the LOWER standard prevails??? I ask because the 'roommates' and I have different standards when it comes to cleanliness. Mine is SLIGHTLY higher than either of theirs. So we live with MY standard and everyone is happy, right? [maybe in the movies!!!] I find that as time goes on my standard is getting lower and LOWER! I NEVER thought I'd see the day when the kitchen didn't get mopped in a 'month of sundays, or my 'watercloset' had a RING! I can't decide why it is that Bryon and Boo get it THEIR way. Does anyone out there have the answer, this is driving me NUTS! I try and I try but my motivation is no-where to be found. It's like, 'why bother? it'll be dirty again in MINUTES.' I just want ya'll to know that when you leave my house and have to scrape the 'gunk' off the bottom of your shoes, 'IT ISN'T MY FAULT!

That having been said: I want each of you to know that I didn't 'do' Easter this year. No, you were NOT singled out to be ignored, I simply didn't do ANYTHING this time around. The girls and I are coloring eggs tonight but that's it. It's been years and YEARS since I didn't 'do' even one basket. It felt kinda weird, in a nice sorta way. Anywho, hope you all have a wonderful Easter and know I love you whether you got a card or not. [I'm guessing not!] Hugs to all!
