Two words----Wall Lettering

Don't be fooled by the package---Wall Lettering is NOT easy!!!! 3 steps---that's what they say. Yeah right, 3 very DIFFICULT steps. Step 1--remove backing paper--with WHAT. You're suppose to be able to rub it, on the wrong side, and Walla,it's sticking to the transfer paper. Well---MINE didn't. I about rubbed clean through the paper. Ok, moving right along to step 2--put it on the wall. Oh ,but don't forget to measure. You have to remove it about a zillion times to get it straight. Now, step 3--rub over the transfer paper and the lettering will 'by magic'  be on the wall. Not so!!! Also, DON'T rub the transfer paper with water until you are SURE the lettering is loose. Wait a minute---isn't that 4 steps---those lying BAS----!!!!!! All that, having been said, the lettering DOES look pretty good, if I do say so myself. [I have  to---no one else will!:]

Date night and no date----

Yep, I've been 'stood up!' That's the problem with a 'steady date'--- works great-- unless----he's BUSY! In truth however, he DID have a good reason. It seems one of his rentals burnt down last night and since this one was in Salt Lake----well, you get the picture. I hope that things went well -- or as good as can be expected-- for him today.
As always, life moves on. I've decided to give my 'shower room' a 'face lift' after seeing Mom's kitchen. Also, I don't believe that 'the man' is going to have any time soon to help with projects around here. I'm just going to do small wall repairs and paint but it shoud look a lot better. Then later, when he has more time, we'll do it right! The trick willl be to not let him know. I'll let you know how that goes.
YEA!!!! SUPERBOWL SUNDAY! [in two more days!]

It looks wonderful

Just a quick note to tell all who are interested, that mom's kitchen 'face lift' looks wonderful!!! I can truly appreciate how much work was involved from all we've done around here. Rachel you're mom's 'the best!' Anyone who hasn't seen it---should. It looks 'fab!'

Please?????be HAPPY for me!

Back in July I ordered a new Vanity. I was worried because it was a month out and we might? need it before then. [Oh how hopeful/foolish I was!] Anyway, tomorrow I paint the HANGING new powder room door. That's IT, we are DONE!!! Oh happy day. I haven't the COURAGE to mention to him that we haven't even STARTED the shower room. It's sorta sad to see a grown man cry!

On another note. I got a fab. gift this  week. Some GREAT GUYS gave me a cabinet. Not just ANY cabinet but one that was made in 1948 for a television. It is beautiful!!! It has been converted into a wine cabinet. Boy, do these two KNOW me. Thanks guys! I don't want to look a 'gift horse' in the mouth but--- You could have FILLED it first!

Ideas---who needs them?

Didya ever notice----the person who HAS the idea--is RARELY the person who has to do the actual WORK! Case in point---'Honey, I want to replace the  door between the hallway and the powderoom!' Ok, we have an idea! To start with, I have neither the tools or the know-how,  just the idea, AND total confidence that HE can do it. We go to Lowe's yesterday. I spend 25 dollars for a six-panel door that will fit. This is JUST the door. It has no hardware or even cut-outs for the handle OR hinges. Now it's HIS turn. He has to make cut-outs for the hinges and door handle AND latch. Then he has to install said hardware. THEN hang the door to be sure it fits. Then he has to take the door off and take off ALL the hardware so I can paint it. Little wonder the poor man GROWLS every time I start a sentence with, 'Honey, I have an idea---:]

New Twist to and OLD game!

Everyone [who is anyone] knows Janurary is for ORGANIZING! Here's the kicker-I NEVER get it finished. What happens, is that I start out strong and then peter out before anything acually gets accomplished. So,,,, this year I've decided to do things a bit differently. I'm going to ASSUME that I won't get it finished, therefore, I WILL finish whatever litte project I start. What this means is that if I find something that I either want to display OR DISCARD I wiill do it right then and NOT sit it aside to deal with later. Best case...there will be small 'bits and pieces' of my home which actually ARE organized. Has this method worked for anyone....anyone....no?....oh well, I'm going to try it anyway. .....You could AT  LEAST wish me LUCK!

Potatoes and unusual smells!!!

Occasionally I ask myself, 'are you 50+ or a mere teen?' This is often when I have done something really REALLY dumb! [see what I think of teens? oh dear!] Anyway, this has to do with the afore mentioned potatoes. About a week ago Bryon and I went shopping with Bre's money, [I LOVE when that happens:] we picked up what WE wanted and also most of the stuff on her list. One of the things on her list was red potatoes. They were accidently left in the car. It has been 'bittery cold' [at least for US!] so 'no problem!' A coulpe of days ago I remember them so I take them out and sit them on the kitchen table where they have remained until this morning. I pick them up to 'finallly' put them away. The bag is dripping????  What???? Oh yeah, if you FREEZE potatoes and then thaw them, guess what? I can't believe I did that! This would also explain the lovely smell I've been trying to mask with 'scented' candles. Who do I know that would pull this stunt? Oh my, NO ONE! Needless to say, I owe Bre a bag of potatoes. Happy Thursday all and remember, DON'T FREEZE THOSE POTATOES!
